The children have been learning to use positional language and map reading skills on a fieldwork trip to South Marine Park. Children also identified human and physical features of the park.
This week, Year 3 visited The Word. They explored the book “The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors” by Drew Daywalt. Children were read the book, then analysed the data from their own games of rock paper scissors to see which was the most popular choice.
Year 2 worked with local artist Emma Sheridan this morning to create mandala bunting for the upcoming South Shields Mela on 18th August. Head down to the museum on Ocean Road to view our wonderful artwork!
In Y2 we have been measuring the mass of different classroom objects.
We have been learning about the human and physical features of South Shields and Kenya. We then compared these features to spot similarities and differences.
Year 2 returned to school yesterday to be greeted by a mysterious backpack. After investigating its contents, we concluded that it must have been left by an explorer. We have decided to create our own Explorers’ Club and can’t wait to start exploring!

Year 2 ended their Lighthouse topic by writing an action poem inspired by a short animation. They carefully considered their choice and order of words.
In Year 2 we have been learning to measure accurately and compare lengths in maths this week.
Year 2 had so much fun acting out a day trip to the seaside in Victorian times. All aboard!
