We were learning about Space at our visit to The Word today. We read books about planets and aliens. We enjoyed colouring the planets and completing a space passport. A huge thank you to our grownups for coming with us.
In Design Technology we have been learning about making windmills. We were making the sails for our windmills and concentrated to use tools and equipment accurately to make part of the structure.

We were so excited to see snow this morning. We worked together to make a snowman.

We have been learning about planting and growing in Emma’s garden. We did lots of weeding to get the garden ready for Winter. We planted some garlic and look forward to harvesting it in the Spring.
In Geography we have been navigating our school environment. We have been giving directions using left, right, forwards and backwards. We climbed to the MUGA and identified landmarks using compass directions – North, South, East and West.
In computing we have been learning how to draw a scene from a story using digital tools. We chose the story of “The Three Little Pigs”. We enjoyed learning more about Sketchpad. We practised dragging and dropping to move and resize images and used a variety of tools to create different effects.
We have been learning about whole/part models in Maths. we all enjoyed using cubes to find different ways to make numbers.
We really enjoyed our first visit to The Word. We enjoyed hearing stories about cats and listening to one of our favourite stories “Six Dinner Sid”. We made colouful cat masks. We are all looking forward to our next visit.
Reception class were so happy or win the Mrs Mop award for having the tidiest classroom!
