To conclude our work into creating our own Bolognese sauce, we explored different cooking and preparation techniques, coming together in groups to create a healthy, vegetarian alternative to normal Bolognese. We were able to slice, chop and dice using bridge hold and claw hold, as well as fry ingredients to a certain time-frame. Have a look at our hard work below!
This week, as part of our work in creating our own Mars Rover, Year Five visited the Word for an exclusive workshop about the 3D design program, Tinkercad, and how to use it. They were tasked with creating their own 3D castles, using various shapes, pre-made visuals and options such as grouping. After a bit more fine tuning with their designs, the class will vote the top-three designs which will be printed for pupils to take home. Watch this space for the winners!
Today, the class explored the world of inventions, designing their own unique products which explored the use of movement to generate electricity. Once they had became product designers, the children tried their hand at creating their own wind-powered devices which lifted a counter-weight as the blades on their turbines spun.

This week, Y3 are creating and evaluating seasonal tarts. Following a design brief, Y3 assembled their tarts using ingredients they chose to provide a great taste and rich balance of nutrients. Y3 will go on to taste test their and their peers creations to compare and evaluate flavours.
During DT this afternoon, Y3 children tasted a range of seasonal vegetables such as cucumber, asparagus, cabbages and even radishes! They then discussed the different tastes and textures and decided which combinations of vegetables would work well together in a seasonal tart.
In Reception class this week, Mel and Caitlin came in to talk about how to be a ‘Civil Engineer’. We made our own designs for an island. Next week, we will create a model of our designs. The children had lots of amazing ideas for a fun island to visit including a rainbow island, a flower island and a train island. Mikaeel even had a jet-ski to leave his island for supplies.
Year 4 have been hard at work using their knowledge of electricity and circuits to make a working torch. We designed and made all of the components needed. We had lots of success.
Year 4 have been working extremely hard on their slingshot cars. We designed and created a chassis and a body then joined them together. Here are our finished cars. We had great fun testing them.
Year 4 have been hard at work building a chassis of a car. We will be adding more to our designs over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
This half term, Y3 have been designing electric posters. Working to a design brief of creating a public information poster for an Ancient Rome exhibition, students decided on their own criteria, researched their chosen topic and worked to develop initial ideas. They then worked collaboratively on assembling the electrical systems to make their posters light up! Well done Y3!
