Year 4 have been learning about features of an explanation text.Ā We have enjoyed reading Until I met Dudley by Roger McGough.Ā We created our own book pages based on the text.Ā We chose an everyday object and wrote an informal and formal explanation.Ā Here are some of our finished pieces of writing.
Year 2 loved sharing their wonderful stories with Reception class📚
We were so excited to visit the Word. We were going to meet an author and illustrator called Lauren Osborne. We really enjoyed sharing her books. Lauren showed us how to draw a worry monster and then we could draw our own monsters. We all agreed it was Ā a brilliant way to celebrate World Book Day.
KS1 enjoyed a virtual reading and illustrating session with Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler this morning.
We enjoyed a virtual storytelling event with professional storyteller Wendy Shearer this morning.
Year 4 joined a meet the author session with writer Kevin Tsang.Ā He talked about his book “All about Lunar New year.”Ā We found out lots of interesting information about Chinese New Year.Ā Afterwards we made some Chinese dragons.
On Wednesday, Y3 went on a trip to The Word. The class read and discussed two books before completing activities linked to what they had been reading. Children then chose a fiction or a non-fiction book to bring back to the Y3 reading corner to read for pleasure!

Author and illustrator Korky Paul visited Marine Park to share the magic behind his series of books, Winnie the Witch.Ā He even left some of his illustrations for the children to enjoy!
Year 2 and 3 really enjoyed meeting Jonny Duddle and listening to his adventures about being on a pirate ship. He amazed everyone with his drawing of an angry pirate!
