We enjoyed readingTell Me a Dragon by Jackie Morris so much that we decided to design our own unique dragons.
Reading Club enjoyed trying out some new books this week as well as reading some old favourites
We have really enjoyed retelling the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin as part of our English work. We worked together in groups to produce a puppet show. It was great fun!
Year 4 have been reading the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Today we put ourselves in the roles of the Mayor and townspeople and took part in a conscience alley. We had to perform in each role and decide if we should pay the Pied Piper or not.
This week, Year 3 visited The Word. They explored the book “The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors” by Drew Daywalt. Children were read the book, then analysed the data from their own games of rock paper scissors to see which was the most popular choice.
We have been learning how to take photographs and record videos and edit them to create a book trailer.
Children decided to work with one of the books we have studied this year, such as Henry’s Freedom Box, The Iron Man or The Butterfly Lion. They then recorded videos and pictures at lots of different angles to create different effects. Their work was edited using iMovie and the finished trailers were screen for a class performance and evaluation.
Year 4 have been learning about features of an explanation text. We have enjoyed reading Until I met Dudley by Roger McGough. We created our own book pages based on the text. We chose an everyday object and wrote an informal and formal explanation. Here are some of our finished pieces of writing.
We all enjoyed ‘World Book Day’ here at Marine Park. We dressed up as our favourite book characters or came dressed in our comfy PJ’s. Some of us listened to our favourite authors reading stories, some of us created our own stories and we even had a preloved book sale where we raised over £150.
Here we are reading our books we purchased on World Book Day. We couldn’t wait to read them.
