History Curriculum Statement
At Marine Park, we provide a high quality, ambitious and bespoke history curriculum, which stimulates the children’s interest and understanding about significant events, time periods and the life of people who lived in the past. In line with the whole school PACE curriculum, the intent of our cohesive history curriculum is to deliver lessons that offer cultural capital opportunities; are accessible to children of all abilities and that maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. The study of history is seen by both staff and pupils as a pathway to future careers, jobs and learning opportunities. From Early Years through to Year 6 the children will:
- Increase their understanding of the present in context of the past
- Increase and develop their historical skills, concepts, knowledge and attitudes

- Develop their knowledge about how historians investigate the past and how they construct historical claims, arguments and accounts (disciplinary knowledge)
- Develop a sense of identity through learning about the past.
At Marine Park, we strive to make history interesting, relevant and exciting for our children and continually look for opportunities to achieve this. Our aim is to create proficient historians who are look forward to carrying on their journey into secondary education.
