As part of their Music Staff Training session, the teaching staff explored the progression of skills in music using one piece of music: In the Hall of the Mountain King. This is from the suite of incidental music written for Ibsen’s play ‘Peer Gynt’ by the Norwegian composer Edward Grieg.

We looked at ways to use the music to teach and reinforce a variety of musical concepts across the primary age range.

Following this session, the staff worked together to learn Frosty the Snowman, using glockenspiels and chime bars…then performed it to the children!!
